Papua New Guinea

I lived in Papua New Guinea until I was 16. My first couple years of life were spent in the costal town of Madang. If anyone has a picture of the most perfect place on earth, with beautiful beaches, amazing diving, coral reefs, palm trees and incredible sun sets, you have a picture of Madang. Then we lived between two places. One, in the highlands, just off the highlands highway, in the Aiyura Valley, was called Ukarumpa. There I attended Aiyura International Primary School and Ukarumpa High School. My parents worked in the Huon Peninsula, in the Timbe language area. While there we lived in a small village called Kulung, halfway up the side of a steep mountain, in the middle of the tropical rain forest.

I still consider PNG my 'home country', even though my passport and accent are British. I realise I am a third culture kid, and know that it would not be home if I returned.
