Our latest trip to Sweden. There were bad winter storms last year, and we had about 15-20 trees down, including several across the drive to the cabin, so I got to buy a chainsaw to cut them up. I am a real man now! We also did some more work on the roof of the house, and brought down a couple of trees in the front yard with the help of a neighbour.
There are a few photos from the National Day celebrations, and lots taken when walking round the lake.

We spent New Year's and the first couple weeks of 2013 at my house in Sweden. Temperatures were between -2C and -28C. It was absolutely lovely, and made us want to move there even more.

Last time we were in Sweden I looked at a couple houses to buy. While I love the cabin, it is limited to being only able to visit it in summer, so I decided to buy a house, as well. It came with beds, heating, running water and inside toilets; so everything the cabin lacks. It also means if we ever decide to try living over there some time in the future, we can.

We had a fair bit of cleaning and organising to do, but also made time for a walk or two every day. It was warm for the time of year, not getting below -18 C while we were there, but averaging more around the -1 to -8 C range. No matter what the weather, though, it was a pleasure to get out for a walk, either through the town, looking at the Christmas lights in the houses, or through the woods and along the river.

We made it up to the cabin a couple of time. Thanks go to Tony for lending us a snow mobile to make the trip up our drive so much more fun.

We only made it once to my cabin this year, but some friends came (Ginny and Neil) to give us a hand.

We finished off filling in the hole under the kitchen floor, put in most of the new joists for the kitchen, sorted out most of the barn, ripped off some of the cladding, and dealt with another ants nest.

There were a lot less mosquitoes this year, but the area was having a plague of mice, instead.

Thanks go to Ginny, Neil and Karen for some of the photos (and a lot of help) and to Neil for introducing us to the healthy kebab: kebab meat on Ryvita.
